QUICK GUIDE FOR VACUUM SEALING FOOD
Step 1 Prepare the Food 1. It’s typically best to vacuum seal food in meal-size portions. This will make it convenient for defrosting and serving later on. 2. Make sure that the cooked food are cooled to room temperature before vacuum sealing. 3. Blanching raw vegetables can prevent them from getting mushy and colors fade. Fresh mushrooms and garlic are a no-go for vacuum sealing. 4. For fruits, dry fruits, or freeze fruits, or use a tray to hold them before sealing, to prevent from crushing and ensure they keep their shape. 5. Freeze the soup, liquids, meat in marinades, sauces, or smoothies in a container of the appropriate shape before sealing.
Step 2 Prepare/Choose Bags Appropriately If using vacuum sealer bag roll, customize the bag length to fit your item’s size and then heat seal one end. For precut vacuum sealer bags, this step can be skipped.
Safety Notes: Make sure to leave at least 3 inches (76mm) at the top for sealing. Do not overfill the vacuum seal bag. The open end of the bag needs enough space to remove air and form a proper seal.
Step 3 Place Food in the Bag 1. Handle vacuum-sealed items with clean hands or tools to keep the items sanitary. 2. Place food in the center of the vacuum seal bag, ensure it not to touch the sealing area.
Tips: When packing greasy or moist items, you can fold back the outer edges of the bag, place the item inside, and then fold the edges back again. This helps keep the sealing area clean. If any liquids or particles left at the top of the bag, wipe them off before sealing. Tiny food particles or excess juice can interfere with the seal, potentially causing the contents to deteriorate.
Step 4 Seal the Bag 1. Align the open edge of the bag properly within the vacuum sealer according to the machine user guide. The sealing process will only function correctly if the open end is appropriately aligned. 2. Close the vacuum sealer, and press the vacuum seal button on the machine if necessary, to start the vacuum and sealing process.
Step 5 Inspect the Seal After the machine to stop its operation, inspect the bag to ensure it is properly sealed. If necessary, perform a second seal for added protection.
Step 6 Store the Vacuum Sealed Food 1. Label the bags with the contents and the date to keep better track. 2. Store the vacuum sealed food in the fridge or freezer.
Safety Notes: Avoid Light Exposure: Light exposure can increase spoilage times. Food can generate gas when exposed to light, making the vacuum-sealed bag appear as if it has lost its vacuum. Avoid High Temperatures: High temperatures speed up food spoilage. Food can generate gas during the spoilage process, which can make the vacuum-sealed bag appear as if it has lost its vacuum. Store vacuum-sealed food in the fridge or freezer.
Step 7 Clean After Use Clean the sealing area of your vacuum sealer with a gently dampened cloth after use. Residual liquid or ingredients can affect the sealing process and weaken the seal.
